Winners and getting paid

When results are published, the top five entries are announced on the challenge's results page. Every contestant gets an email — winners with payout next-steps, everyone else with a nudge to come back for the next brief.

What winning gets you

• First place only: the challenge winner badge — the challenge emblem with your win year — on your winning work everywhere it appears: the library, your profile, curated rows, and the work's own page. Ranks 2–5 are announced on the results page but don't carry a badge, and challenge placements never show a FOOH Awards medal — that mark belongs to the Awards alone.
• The cash prize for your placement (1st–5th).

Claiming your prize

Head to Account → Challenges and open Claim prize on your winning entry. Your prize is winnings for placing in the challenge — not payment for your work, so don't send us an invoice; none is needed from anyone. Any taxes due on the prize are yours to handle in your own country.

The claim form is the same for everyone — claiming as a company just means entering your company name as the legal name. You'll fill in:

• Legal name, address, and country — for the payout paperwork. Write the address exactly as you would on an envelope, over as many lines as your country's format needs; it's reproduced on your payout confirmation as you typed it.
• An email for payout correspondence — a contact address in case we need to reach you about the transfer itself (it can differ from your account email). The automatic status emails below still go to your account address.
• USD or EUR — prizes are set in US dollars; choose EUR and the amount converts at our payment provider's rate on the day of payout.
• Your bank details for the matching transfer type — a US routing/account number for a US account, just your IBAN inside Europe, or IBAN + SWIFT/BIC anywhere else. SWIFT transfers can arrive slightly short: banks along the route may deduct their own fees.
• Two confirmations — that your entry warranties still hold, and that taxing the prize locally is your own responsibility.

We send your prize within 14 business days of receiving your details, and you can correct them any time until it's marked paid.

You'll get an email the moment your details land (correcting them later doesn't re-send it), and another one when the money is on its way. Your entry card also updates: once your details are in it reads payout details received and the button becomes Update details, so you can always see at a glance that we have them.

Forgot to claim? Seven days after results we send one reminder email. Your prize doesn't expire after that — it just waits for your details — but the sooner they're in, the sooner it's on its way.

Your payout confirmation document

Once your prize is marked paid, the button on your entry becomes Payout confirmation — a printable document with your confirmed name and address, the challenge, your placement, the amount, and the payout date, filed under its own document number. Open it and use the print button (or your browser's print dialog) to save it as a PDF. It's your record of the payout for bookkeeping — especially handy if you claimed as a company.

Two things on it are there to make your own accountant's life easier:

• The basis of payment. It states that the prize was awarded for creative merit under the challenge rules, and is not payment for a licence, a service, or a transfer of rights — the licence you grant by entering is granted by every entrant, free, whether they place or not. That's the line that explains why no invoice exists.
• Your taxes. The amount shown is the gross prize. Whatever tax is due on it is yours to handle where you live (rules § 7.3).

The document is bilingual (English and German) because FOOH is an Austrian company and the German text is what our tax office reads. Amounts are written with the currency code — USD 2,000.00 — so there's no doubt which dollar.
